Bangkok: "Thanakorn" has urged the Digital Economy and Cyber Police to take decisive steps in curbing false news related to pressing political and border issues. He emphasized the need for the government and the Ministry of the Interior to enhance proactive public relations efforts to address the situation and bolster confidence among the public, tourists, and investors.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, a former Minister to the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Leader of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), highlighted the impact of current political and Thai-Cambodian border issues on public and investor confidence. He pointed out that the spread of false information on social media has been causing public panic. To counter this, he urged the government, particularly the Ministry of Interior, to actively disseminate accurate information to guide public perception.
Additionally, he called on the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Anti-Fake News Center to work closely with the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) or Cyber Police. Their role would involve monitoring, investigating, and intercepting fake news on all online platforms. He stressed that all relevant agencies should collaborate proactively to restore confidence among the public, tourists, and investors in Thailand.
Mr. Thanakorn also appealed to the government and related agencies to utilize communication channels effectively to build trust and understanding. He advised citizens to engage with news critically, relying on information from the government or mainstream media, and urged them to verify news before sharing to mitigate widespread impact.
