Bangkok: The National Police Chief is preparing to appoint Thana, Deputy National Police Chief, as the head of the investigation team for the high-profile Dr. Boon fraud case. This case, involving Dr. Boon Vanasin, the executive of a renowned private hospital, is considered significant due to its extensive nature and the number of suspects involved. Interpol has been engaged to expedite the search for Dr. Boon, who is believed to have fled abroad. The authorities are currently assessing the possibility of an extradition treaty with the country he might have escaped to. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the National Police Chief, announced that all suspects in the case were denied bail, with 8 out of 9 suspects already arrested. The investigation involves over 200 suspects from the Metropolitan Police Bureau and 18 from the Central Investigation Bureau. Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong is set to lead the investigation team due to the case's complexity and the large number of suspects. The case centers around public fraud, and once all suspects are gathered, a comprehensive investigation into related offenses will commence. Dr. Boon reportedly left the country in September, and it is suspected that he anticipated the legal actions against him. Financial trails are under scrutiny, with potential money laundering charges being considered. When questioned about the possibility of an extradition treaty with Dr. Boon's destination country, the National Police Chief revealed that investigations are underway. In a related matter, the National Police Chie f also addressed the arrest of over 1,000 individuals associated with another group, confirming that the deputy national police chief is managing this operation.
