Bangkok: Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has addressed recent comments made by Mr. Chadchart, asserting that he is not angry with the claims of forming a gang to counter gangsters. Thammanat emphasized that he and Mr. Chadchart are sworn brothers and maintain a strong relationship.
According to Thai News Agency, Thammanat denied being appointed as the chairman of a committee to combat scammers, clarifying that there was a misunderstanding regarding his role. He stated that his responsibilities as Deputy Prime Minister encompass overseeing four ministries: Agriculture and Cooperatives, Education, Tourism and Sports, and Social Development and Human Security. Thammanat clarified that he is not involved in chairing a committee against scammer gangs but does hold the position of ex officio chairman of the National Anti Human Trafficking Commission, where he is responsible for policy setting.
Thammanat reiterated the importance of addressing human trafficking issues with seriousness and diligence. He advised against placing too much emphasis on phrases that could be misinterpreted, instead urging focus on executing one's duties effectively.
When questioned about his relationship with Mr. Chadchart, Thammanat expressed that their friendship dates back to childhood, and he harbors no resentment toward him. He acknowledged their mutual understanding and straightforward communication style.
In response to allegations of misconduct ahead of the elections, Thammanat highlighted his readiness to face scrutiny. He underscored his commitment to serving the nation and the people, and stressed the importance of focusing on work rather than political maneuvering.
Thammanat also addressed concerns regarding the Kla Tham Party's support base, asserting that their popularity stems from responding to the needs of the people. He expressed confidence in maintaining the party's grassroots appeal through continued dedication to their constituents.
