Thailand to Temporarily Enshrine Buddha’s Glass Tooth Relic from China.


Bangkok: Chusak Sirinil, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for the Project to Invite the Relics of the Buddha, led a Thai delegation to Lingguang Temple in Beijing to bring the Buddha’s Glass Tooth Relic to Thailand. The relic will be temporarily enshrined at Sanam Luang from December 5, 2024, to February 14, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chusak, along with the Thai Sangha led by Phra Phrombandit, a member of the Sangha Supreme Council and abbot of Wat Prayurawong, participated in a ceremony at Wat Lingguang. This event marked the official invitation of the Buddha’s Tooth Relic to Thailand. The relic will be enshrined in Thailand for a total of 73 days, offering the public an opportunity to pay their respects.

The ceremony was also attended by Thai and Chinese monks who performed a Buddhist chanting ritual before the relic was transported to Beijing airport. Chen Ruifeng, Minister of the National Religious Affairs Office of China, formally handed o
ver the sacred tooth relic during the event.

The sacred relic is scheduled to arrive at the 2nd Military Airport, Wing 6, in Bangkok at around 1:00 p.m. Thai time. The Thai government has invited the public to participate in the welcoming ceremony and watch the procession either in person or through a live broadcast at 4:30 p.m. .
