Bangkok: The Cabinet has officially approved the bid to host the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championships in Thailand, as announced by Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson. The proposal, set forth by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, was accepted, enabling the Volleyball Association of Thailand to present its bid at the 39th FIVB General Assembly, scheduled for November 15-17, 2024, in Porto, Portugal. The Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) is expected to confirm Thailand’s hosting rights by December 6, 2024, with the draw ceremony planned for December 15, 2024.
According to Thai News Agency, the FIVB Women’s World Championships will occur from August 22 to September 7, 2025, across four cities in Thailand: Chiang Mai, Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Bangkok. The tournament will feature 32 teams competing for the championship title.
The anticipated benefits of hosting the event include enhancing Thailand’s global image through live broadcasts and fostering confidence among intern
ational tourists and investors regarding the country’s potential in tourism, economy, and society. The event is expected to generate significant income from international tourists, athletes, and officials, estimated at approximately 768,300,000 baht. Additionally, the promotional value through global social media engagement is expected to reach about 5,596,500,000 baht, with an overall economic impact of around 2,070,900,000 baht. The total economic benefit for Thailand from hosting the championship is projected to be approximately 8,435,700,000 baht.
