Thailand and Cambodia Reach 13-Point Ceasefire Agreement

Bangkok: At the extraordinary Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, both nations have agreed on a 13-point ceasefire agreement to address border tensions.

According to Thai News Agency, the meeting lasted over an hour, with the agreement developed by relevant Thai agencies and the Cambodian secretariat of the GBC. General Nattapol Nakphanit, Deputy Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Defense for Thailand, and General Tea Srey-Ha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Cambodia, subsequently signed a memorandum of understanding. The discussions and agreements detailed during the meeting are expected to ease the Thai-Cambodian border situation, fostering peaceful coexistence between the peoples of both countries. Thailand emphasized the significance of bilateral mechanisms for effective dialogue.

The extraordinary session of the GBC focused on implementing the 13-point ceasefire agreement, with representatives from both countries signing agreed minutes. This development aims to resolve ongoing border tensions, promoting peace along the border. Both sides agreed on a common approach outlined in the implementation agreement, which was developed jointly by the secretariats of both countries.
