Bangkok: The situation on the Thai-Cambodian border remains stable as both nations continue to uphold their sovereignty. Thailand is actively maintaining control over its territories, ensuring that border operations are conducted smoothly.
According to Thai News Agency, "Thai Khu Fa" has provided an update on the border situation across seven provinces from 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, to 6:00 AM on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The situation remains unchanged, with Thailand consistently maintaining its sovereignty over the region. Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, the spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office and a member of the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Administration (TCASA), has confirmed that the border remains normal across all provinces.
The Thai military continues its strategic deployment along 11 strongholds, reinforcing its stance by erecting barbed wire fences to safeguard national sovereignty and prevent unauthorized entry. Mr. Jirayu highlighted that Cambodia has been engaging in activities aimed at misrepresenting the situation through fake news, employing influencers, orchestrating defamation campaigns against Thailand, and utilizing fictitious individuals to distort facts. He advised the public and media to verify information through official channels before accepting or disseminating it.
In a related development, the case of Mr. Michael, an American lobbyist who claims to be a White House reporter, has garnered attention. Mr. Michael reported on social media from the Cambodian border. Mr. Jirayu stated that if Mr. Michael visits Thailand, arrangements would be made to cover expenses and facilitate a visit to a minefield for a live broadcast, should Mr. Michael choose to proceed with his visit.
