Bangkok: The House Committee on Administration engaged in discussions concerning the Thai-Cambodian border issue, emphasizing the need for both nations to prioritize national interests over political considerations while relying on the security sector to carefully evaluate the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Krawee Prisananantakul, an MP of the Bhumjaithai Party and Chairman of the Committee on Administration, provided insights into the meeting focused on the progress of the Thai-Cambodian border situation. The committee coordinated with the Ministry of Defense, the security sector, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assess the current circumstances and plan future negotiations. Additionally, preparations by the Ministry of Interior to support residents in the border area were evaluated.
The meeting saw the participation of the Secretary-General of the National Security Council, who represented the Deputy Minister of Defense. Discussions centered on the management of Team Thailand, which involves various ministries, including Interior, Education, Foreign Affairs, and Commerce, as well as other related entities. The focus was on assessing the impacts of border closure and other security measures.
In response to inquiries about the connection between the resolution of the Thai-Cambodian border issue and the governments of both nations, Mr. Krawee expressed his trust in the security sector's ability to consider all relevant factors carefully. He stressed the importance of setting aside political differences to prioritize national interests and sovereignty.
