Teenage Brawl in Chon Buri Leaves One Dead, Two Injured

Chon Buri: A meeting intended to resolve personal issues escalated into a violent street brawl involving teenagers armed with knives, guns, and bombs, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. According to Thai News Agency, the incident was captured by surveillance cameras, which showed a motorcycle speeding away before crashing into a parked SUV, resulting in one individual being thrown under the car. The ensuing chaos saw two groups of teenagers engaged in a violent confrontation, further exacerbated when a car reversed at high speed into the group, damaging a nearby house fence.

The fight occurred at 00.30 on May 23 in Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District. Police arriving at the scene found a damaged gray Honda Girano motorcycle. Among the injured were Mr. Tee, 15, with a deep ankle wound, and Mr. Akkaradet, 18, who sustained multiple injuries requiring stitches, a broken hip, and bruises. Mr. Sattawat, 31, was seriously injured and later died.

Mr. Phongsathon, 19, a friend of the deceased, shared that the conflict stemmed from personal issues involving a woman. An initial attempt to resolve these issues failed, prompting a subsequent meeting where violence erupted as their group was pursued by the opposing side, armed with various weapons. This pursuit led to Mr. Sattawat losing control of his motorcycle and crashing, resulting in his death.

Mr. Yuphalap, 32, the deceased's brother and the driver of a bronze Honda Accord, reported being threatened with a gun, prompting him to intervene out of fear for his brother's safety.

An 18-year-old female witness recounted being previously targeted with a grenade and being deceived into attending an apology meeting, which turned into another violent encounter, culminating in a fatality.

Pol. Col. Nattapol Phongsuksakul, Superintendent of Nongprue Police Station, announced that the perpetrators have been identified and that investigations are ongoing to examine the weapons used. Preliminary findings suggest that a provocation by a male friend during a meeting to resolve misunderstandings between two groups of women led to the violent clash.

Reporters assessed the scene and noted extensive damage, particularly to a nearby glass and aluminum shop. The shop suffered significant losses, including crushed fencing and damaged goods, with initial damage estimates around 300,000 baht.
