Suvarnabhumi Airport Awarded 4-Star Status by Skytrax

Bangkok: Suvarnabhumi Airport has achieved a significant milestone by being upgraded to a 4-star airport, as announced by Skytrax. The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) expressed their satisfaction with this accomplishment.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paweena Jariyathitipong, Acting Director-General of AOT, highlighted that Suvarnabhumi Airport has been elevated from a 3-star to a 4-star rating by Skytrax, a UK-based consultancy that specializes in rating the quality of leading airlines and airports worldwide. This upgrade was disclosed on September 12, 2025. AOT has focused on enhancing various aspects of airport services, such as improving the quality of its staff at critical points including passenger transfer, immigration, and security. These improvements aim to provide a positive and satisfactory experience for passengers. Additionally, AOT has integrated modern technologies to enhance passenger services, such as an automated passport control system and more efficient ticketing queue management. Infrastructure improvements have also been made, with enhanced restrooms, better signage, charging points for electronic devices, and stable, fast Wi-Fi connectivity. Upcoming plans include developing infrastructure to furthe r enhance service quality, such as a Kids and Gaming Zone, a Relaxing Co-Working Space Zone, and a contemporary art and culture exhibition.

Ms. Paweena also mentioned that Suvarnabhumi Airport currently accommodates over 60 million passengers annually and is Thailand's primary airport, playing a crucial role in connecting both domestic and international routes. The new 4-star rating underscores the airport's quality and service standards, reflecting its commitment to continuous development to meet the demands of global passengers. This achievement is expected to bolster confidence in Suvarnabhumi Airport's status as a key regional aviation hub, with aspirations to achieve a 5-star rating in the future.
