Bangkok: “Suriya” expresses confidence in the Pheu Thai Party’s success in the upcoming Sisaket Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) election, highlighting his willingness to support the campaign on the ground if the opportunity arises. He confirmed his resignation as an assistant minister, emphasizing that the decision ultimately lies with the people, not a confrontation with the Bhumjaithai Party.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and a leader of the Pheu Thai Party, discussed his potential involvement in campaigning for the Pheu Thai candidate in the northeast region. Although he has not yet scheduled a date, his intention to assist is clear.
The speculation surrounding his potential support for Mr. Wiwatchai Hotrawai, a former assistant minister of the Ministry of Transport and candidate for the PAO presidency in Sisaket Province, was addressed by Mr. Suriya. He stated that he would assist if possible and confirmed Mr.
Wiwatchai’s resignation, expressing confidence in the candidacy.
When questioned about the election’s potential intensity due to competition with the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Suriya clarified that the outcome is determined by the electorate. He views the situation as a competitive but not confrontational scenario, distinguishing between national and local political dynamics. He assured that no conflict exists between coalition parties.
Regarding the Pheu Thai Party’s prospects in the northeast’s provincial administrative organizations, Mr. Suriya mentioned that the strategy committee meets weekly to decide on candidate placements in target areas, with some provinces potentially not fielding candidates.
