Bangkok: Suphamas Isaraphakdi, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office, is set to visit the lower northern region to oversee flood relief efforts in response to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's orders. The visit aims to ensure comprehensive support for flood victims.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Supamas will meet with provincial governors and relevant agencies from Inspection Area 18, which includes Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, and Uthai Thani provinces. The meeting will focus on expediting and monitoring past performance and providing policies for overseeing regional operations. It will also address concerns and discuss approaches to integrating cooperation from all sectors to address hardships and develop the region in various dimensions. Relief assistance for flood-affected individuals and urgent measures to improve quality of life, increase income, and reduce expenses will be prioritized.
This initiative is in line with Prime Minister Anutin's urgent directive to monitor and provide assistance and compensation efficiently to those affected by the floods. The government's policy underscores the importance of prioritizing relief for those impacted by natural disasters.
Ms. Supamas emphasized the government's awareness of the flooding's impact on safety, property, and living costs. She highlighted the urgent need for continuous attention to these issues, including basic necessities such as water and public health.
"The government is committed to resolving problems and alleviating the suffering of people in all areas, particularly those affected by repeated disasters. Post-flood management is crucial, with a focus on effective, systematic, and multi-dimensional rehabilitation, including infrastructure, occupational rehabilitation, and community-level economic opportunities. This will ensure people can quickly return to normal life and are prepared to sustainably cope with future disasters," Ms. Supamas stated.
