Bangkok: Mr. Suchart Tancharoen, a Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has announced his intention to resign from his position as a Member of Parliament (MP) under the party-list system. This move is aimed at ensuring that MPs can effectively fulfill their legislative duties.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart emphasized the tradition that MPs who assume ministerial roles should resign from their parliamentary positions. He highlighted that the responsibilities of a minister are already demanding and full-time, leaving little room to assist in parliamentary affairs, especially given the current razor-thin majority in the House. By resigning, Mr. Suchart aims to enable the next candidate on the party list to step up and contribute to the House's functionality.
The reporter indicated that Mr. Ekporn Raksuksuk, listed as number 38 on the Pheu Thai Party list, is expected to succeed Mr. Suchart as an MP. This transition is anticipated to bolster the parliamentary presence and effectiveness of the Pheu Thai Party.
