Bangkok: The Subcommittee on Sports Development Screening is expediting discussions on budgets for training camps for the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, emphasizing that Thai athletes must be as ready as possible. Mr. Choti Trachu chaired the meeting of the Subcommittee on Sports Development Screening and Subcommittee No. 7/2025, held via video conference. The meeting's agenda included two main issues: adjustments in the budget framework for the fiscal year 2025 and requests for budget approval for continuous activities in the fiscal year 2026. According to Thai News Agency, the work list includes a proposed budget increase of 310,980,975.63 baht for the fiscal year 2025, which is divided into three plans for athlete training camps: the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the 13th ASEAN Para Games, and the provision of national sports science services. Additionally, there is a request for approval of a 4,130 million baht budget for continuous activities in the fiscal year 2026 to support national and international sports activities and athlete development. Mr. Choti Trachu, the Chairman of the Subcommittee, emphasized the importance of the 33rd SEA Games as an essential mission for Thailand, stating that the country cannot afford to lose face. He stressed the need to prioritize the allocation of leftover funds to the SEA Games. Mr. Preecha Lalun, Deputy Governor for Sports Excellence and Sports Science, clarified the budget proposal process, emphasizing that the preparation of athletes for the SEA Games is still under review and awaiting approval from the Board of Funds. Mr. Thanukiat Chanchum, Fund Manager and Subcommittee Secretary, highlighted the importance of the 310,980,975.63 baht budget related to the training allowances for SEA Games athletes. He stressed the need for prompt decision-making to avoid delays in training, urging all parties to consider the matter carefully and expedite the process to ensure athletes are fully prepared for the competition. The subcommittee continues to work diligently to ensure that Thailand's hosting of the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games proceeds smoothly, aiming to maximize the benefits for the athletes and the country.
