Student Loan Fund Urges Borrowers to Restructure Debts Online to Halt Extra Deductions

Bangkok: The Student Loan Fund (SLF) has urgently called on borrowers, who are facing an additional 3,000 baht salary deduction, to restructure their debts online. This move aims to stop the extra deductions and offers borrowers the opportunity to apply for a reduction in the deduction amount through the SLF website. The announcement comes after it was revealed that over 224,000 borrowers, out of a total 500,000 notified, have yet to take these steps.

According to Thai News Agency, the SLF had previously informed borrowers of the additional 3,000 baht deduction and the necessity to enter into an online debt restructuring agreement to suspend these deductions. The deadline for submitting requests to reduce the deduction amount was set for 4:00 p.m. on May 24, 2025, through the SLF website. Despite the deadline, a significant number of borrowers have not restructured their debts, prompting the necessity for continued notifications from the SLF until all outstanding payments are addressed unless borrowers have already taken action.

Borrowers still have the opportunity to sign an online debt restructuring contract, which offers benefits such as a reduced monthly payment and the immediate release of the guarantor. Additionally, the repayment period will be extended by another 15 years. For borrowers who have not yet signed the contract, applications to reduce salary deductions for June 2025 can be submitted until June 14, 2025, via the SLF website, effectively reducing the deduction amount for that month. For further assistance, borrowers can contact the official LINE account 'Student Loan Fund Salary Deduction'.

The SLF has expressed gratitude to borrowers for their cooperation in resolving debt issues and contributing to the sustainability of the loan fund, which serves to provide educational opportunities for future generations.
