Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram has expressed his confusion over the nickname "Sophon Khao Kradong" and addressed accusations against the Anutin Cabinet, asserting his commitment to proving detractors wrong and ensuring the Bhumjaithai Party is not perceived as temporary.
According to Thai News Agency, Sophon dismissed claims of the cabinet's connection to Prasat Sai Fah, emphasizing that such allegations are not linked to Buriram. He highlighted the existence of two groups within the public: those biased against Buriram and those aware of the truth. Sophon compared his situation to being unfairly labeled before taking any action, as evidenced by his nickname.
Sophon remarked on the inability to choose one's birthplace, noting his residence in Buriram and questioning the fairness of criticisms directed at him due to his cabinet position. He stressed the need to demonstrate the truth in a society quick to believe negative narratives, often fueled by social media's mix of truth and falsehoods.
He emphasized the importance of proving the integrity of Buriram's representatives, including himself, and highlighted Bhumjaithai's future reliance on fulfilling public expectations. Sophon denied that the party serves a special purpose, insisting on adherence to the law and the party's ideology for lasting political impact.
Regarding the Pheu Thai Party's plans to dismantle the cabinet, Sophon expressed no concern, focusing instead on the need to showcase achievements. He mentioned the commitment by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to dissolve the House of Representatives within four months, emphasizing the urgency of addressing national crises while advancing constitutional reforms.
