Search Operation Underway as Office of the Auditor General Building Collapses

Bangkok: A comprehensive search operation is currently underway to locate missing persons following the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General building. The operation began at 8:00 AM with rescue workers and K9 dogs entering the site to conduct a thorough search across all zones, prioritizing no specific area over another. However, significant efforts were concentrated on Zone B throughout the night, where rescue teams drilled three holes and discovered one large opening to expedite the search process.

According to Thai News Agency, initial reports confirm that no survivors or additional deceased individuals have been found at this stage. The search in Zone B intensified when a strong, suspicious odor was detected, accompanied by what appeared to be pus and bloodstains. Despite attempts to drill further, efforts to break through the cement and steel have so far been unsuccessful.

Since 6:00 AM, heavy machinery has not yet been activated. The operation was paused at 4:40 AM, and a meeting is currently taking place to assess the situation. Key agencies involved in the rescue mission include the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, Por Tek Tung Foundation, and the USAR rescue team, all working closely with K9 units. The meeting aims to reach a conclusive plan moving forward.

Regarding communication with the media, rescue workers from various agencies are cooperating with government authorities, with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration designated to lead press conferences. To ensure accurate information dissemination, all personnel involved are asked to refrain from giving independent statements or interviews to the media.
