Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, Gen. Pana Klaewplodthuk, along with Lt. Gen. Bunsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army Area, recently inspected the Disaster Relief Center of Army Area 22 in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Their visit focused on reviewing the plans and preparations for flood response in the region.

According to Thai News Agency, the mission included a visit to the Water Level Measuring Station (M.7) in Muang District, a key site for monitoring flood conditions. The inspection aimed to ensure the readiness of military units to assist and mitigate disasters in areas under the responsibility of the 22nd Army Region’s Disaster Relief Center. The welcoming party included Maj. Gen. Akkaraphon Moonpradab, Commander of the 22nd Army Circle, and Lieutenant Colonel Adisak Noisuwan, Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Province, alongside other government officials.

Historical data from Station M.7 indicates that Ubon Ratchathani has faced significant flooding in the past, with severe incidents recorded in 1978, 2022, and 2019. The Disaster Mitigation Center of the 22nd Army Region has developed a comprehensive operational plan that includes preparation, active assistance during disasters, and post-disaster restoration. This plan involves training at both the army and provincial levels, as well as the establishment of 56 shelters and evacuation points to accommodate approximately 4,000 people in the districts of Mueang and Warin Chamrap.

The Army Commander expressed gratitude to military personnel for their dedication in disaster response efforts and emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and readiness. He also highlighted the need for collaboration with government agencies and the preparation of vehicles and equipment to provide immediate assistance during flood events.
