Royal Thai Air Force Confirms No Threat from Suspicious Aircraft Near Tak Province Border

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Air Force has confirmed that there is no threat concerning the recent sighting of a suspicious aircraft near the border of Phon Phra in Tak Province. The Air Force assures the public that the situation was monitored closely and resolved without incident.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 16:51 when the Air Force Control and Warning Center detected a suspicious aircraft approaching the Thai border opposite Amphoe Phop Phra, Tak Province. In response, an F-16 fighter jet from Wing 4 was dispatched from Takhli Airport to conduct an air defense mission. The aircraft in question was identified as a high-performance YAK-130, which was heading towards the border at close range.

The Air Force followed standard procedures by ordering a flight to verify the aircraft and demonstrate a deterrent posture. This approach was part of the normal measures to monitor and confirm the situation. The tracking operation revealed that the aircraft changed direction and moved away from the Thai border without exhibiting any invasive behavior or intent to threaten national security.

Earlier today, the Air Force deployed two F-16 aircraft for surveillance missions. One flight was conducted in the morning, with another aircraft dispatched in the evening, returning at 5:10 p.m. The Air Force continues to maintain vigilance to ensure the safety and security of the nation's airspace.
