Relatives Visit Suspect in Ketamine-Fueled Police Chase Accident

Bangkok: Relatives visited a man who fled from police in a pickup truck accident and brought him food and medication to treat his psychiatric condition. During initial questioning, he was incoherent, talking to himself, and asking the police for ketamine.

According to Thai News Agency, Sai Mai Police Station arrested Mr. Chaichana, age 41, after he attempted to escape a police search in a pickup truck and subsequently collided with several cars. The incident required villagers' assistance to intercept him. A search of his vehicle uncovered 400 grams of ketamine. The incident took place on Theparak Road, near the Big C intersection in Saphan Mai, Khlong Thanon Subdistrict, Sai Mai District, Bangkok.

This morning, Mr. Chaichana's lawyer and sister visited him at Bang Khen Police Station, providing food and medication for his mental health treatment. The suspect continues to receive treatment for his psychiatric condition. During questioning, he remained incoherent, talking to himself and requesting ketamine from the police.

Pol. Col. Nattapong Kiram, Superintendent of Sai Mai Police Station, stated that Mr. Chaichana confessed to owning the seized drugs and acting as an agent selling ketamine to partygoers. The investigation is ongoing.

The legal proceedings have been split due to the suspect fleeing the Sai Mai Police Station jurisdiction and causing accidents in the Bang Khen Police Station area before his arrest. The investigation officers of Bang Khen Police Station hold legal authority over the case. The suspect was taken into custody at Bang Khen Police Station after the incident.

The legal proceedings will address two main issues: the suspect's reckless driving and causing damage to property, which violates the Land Traffic Act, and the possession of a Category 2 psychotropic substance (ketamine). Investigators at Bang Khen Police Station will handle the case and seek the court's permission to detain Mr. Chaichana tomorrow.
