Promphong Criticizes Political Jealousy Over Thaksin’s Campaign Role.

UDON THANI: 'Promphong' says jealous people should stop cutting off others' legs. 'Promphong' said that politically jealous people should stop kicking others' legs after someone prepared to file a complaint against 'Thaksin' over his preparation to go on stage to help campaign for the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization president. He insisted that he could do so according to the law as a campaign assistant. According to Thai News Agency, on November 10, 2024, Mr. Phromphong Noppharit, former spokesman of the Pheu Thai Party, gave an interview about the case where someone was preparing to file a lawsuit against Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former prime minister, who will go on stage to support Mr. Sarawut Petchpanomporn, candidate for president of the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) under the name of the Pheu Thai Party on November 13-14, 2024, saying that it would be considered a violation of the Local Government Election Act or Local Government Executive Act, saying that it was nonsense and politically jealous people wanted to use it as a political game to discredit Mr. Thaksin, the former prime minister, and the Pheu Thai Party without reason. Mr. Prompong continued that Mr. Thaksin has the right and freedom to express his opinions as a Thai citizen according to the constitution. Importantly, Mr. Thaksin is not a person prohibited from exercising the right to vote. Therefore, he still has the right and duty to vote in elections at all levels. In terms of the provincial administrative organization elections, if the provincial administrative organization mayor candidate informs the director of the Election Commission (EC) of Udon Thani Province of his name as a 'campaign assistant', he can do so according to the law. Mr. Thaksin can also participate in campaign activities and go on stage to give speeches throughout the campaign period. Similarly, for future MP elections, Mr. Thaksin can also become a campaign assistant if his name is informed according to the procedure. 'Those who are losing and are angry should stop their behavior of cutting others off. Politics should be a competition based on policies that are beneficial to the country and the nation. I am confident that if former Prime Minister Thaksin were to be a campaign assistant, it would help create excitement and be beneficial to the people of Udon because he would have a way of thinking that would help solve problems and create prosperity for the people of Udon with his experience in governing the country, which has led to success in many policies and the international community trusting him,' said Mr. Prompong.
