A good idea: Processing tamarind, a worthless fruit, into jam and selling it to generate income while studying. Ban Kok Sai School, Porong Charak Subdistrict, Yan Ta Khao District, Trang Province, teachers and students from Grades 5-6 helped collect toad tamarinds that teachers planted at the school and behind students' houses, and processed them into jam called "Nang Ai Jam". Tamarind, people in the central region call it Luk Amphawa, Nang Ai, Mapriang, Luk Ai, is a small to medium-sized tree, found mostly in the southern and central regions of Thailand. It has short, round fruit with a rough skin similar to toad skin. Ripe fruit is sweet and sour. Currently, it is a rare ancient plant that is close to extinction. Ripe fruit can be eaten fresh, dipped with chili salt, sweet fish sauce, or boiled in sugar water to make a fruit salad. The bark and roots are used to treat blood diseases. The wood is used in various construction works. The first time that the toad tamarind was processed was the idea of ??Khr u Nam. She saw students eating it during lunch break, so she tried it. She liked the taste, so she wanted to process the toad tamarind and encouraged students to sell it to earn income while studying. She experimented with making it into jam and changed the name from toad tamarind jam to lang yin jam to make it look cute. In addition, it can be made into chili paste, preserved, spicy tamarind, blended tamarind juice, fresh tamarind juice, and others to increase choices. As for toad tamarind jam or lang yin jam, it was entered in the 72nd National Student Arts and Crafts Competition in March. It won a gold medal for students in grades 4-6. This was because of the creative idea of ??taking local fruits that are worthless and processing them to create added value, making it the first school. For the nang yai jam, there are 2 types to choose from: mixed with wild honey, sold in jars for 50 baht, and using granulated sugar, sold in jars for 30 baht. In addition, students are allowed to grow seedlings and sell the m at 15 baht per plant, creating jobs and generating income in another way.
