Prime Minister Vows Tough Action Against Wrongdoing in Bangkok Remand Prison

Bangkok: The Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed reports concerning the Bangkok Remand Prison's alleged provision of benefits to a group of Chinese inmates. He announced that he had instructed the Minister of Justice to strictly follow all regulations. He emphasized that "whoever commits wrongdoing will be held accountable" and expressed his commitment to await the outcome of the investigations, ensuring that no offenders would be spared.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister assured that government agencies have been diligently working for a considerable period. He highlighted that several ringleaders had previously been repatriated to their countries of origin to face punishment. This included actions such as asset seizures, revocation of citizenship, and the implementation of all possible measures to address the situation.

When questioned about the potential infiltration of government agencies by the so-called "Chinese mafia," Mr. Anutin reiterated the government's stance that anyone found at fault must be held accountable and face clear punishment. He stressed that such occurrences should not transpire and that any intentional violations of regulations would result in legal action. He confirmed that the Minister of Justice would not disregard the allegations.
