Bangkok: The Prime Minister announced intentions to expedite the establishment of the Joint Technical Committee (JTC) as soon as possible, amidst ongoing discussions in the House of Representatives regarding MOU 44. This statement comes as the opposition leader gears up to propose a discussion on the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, addressed the situation involving Mr. Nattaphong Ruangpanyawut, the leader of the opposition, who is preparing to request the opening of the parliament under Section 155 to deliberate on MOU 44. She emphasized that while this topic requires discussion, it remains incomplete and contains various details. The Prime Minister expressed her willingness to consider all viewpoints and stressed that the matter should be handled by the parliament.
Regarding the JTC committee’s progress, the Prime Minister assured that efforts are underway to expedite its establishment. However, a specific date for its completion cannot be provided at
this time. The aim is to accelerate the process to facilitate discussions, though there are existing legal obstacles that need to be addressed.
