Prime Minister Urges Thai Citizens to Eat Carbohydrates Mindfully for Better Health.

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of consuming carbohydrates and starches appropriately each day, likening the human body to a home that needs proper care. The initiative is aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles among Thai citizens, ultimately reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra launched the 'Thai People Away from Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Project' at an opening ceremony attended by Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health. During the event, the Prime Minister explored exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Public Health, focusing on the prevention of NCDs and the importance of carbohydrate counting in daily meals. Ms. Paethongtarn expressed her enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting that proper self-care and dietary choices can significantly lower the risk of NCDs. She stressed that, while these diseases are not contagious, they still cause considerable suffer ing. By promoting awareness and encouraging people to maintain healthier lifestyles, the government aims to reduce healthcare costs and improve the overall well-being of its citizens, benefiting both individuals and the government. The Prime Minister further emphasized the significance of consuming the right amount of carbohydrates and starches daily, as excess starch can convert into sugar, posing health risks. She encouraged Thai citizens to opt for alternative, healthier starches and to pass on these habits to future generations. Village health volunteers were acknowledged for their role in supporting the project, as their efforts are crucial in fostering a healthier future for Thai people, free from non-communicable diseases.
