Prime Minister to Visit Kanchanaburi for Water Management Initiative

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has expressed concern over the agricultural sector's water scarcity and is set to visit Kanchanaburi on June 9th to assess a prototype well-drilling project first-hand.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister recently disclosed that during a meeting focused on water management, the scarcity of water for agriculture emerged as a significant concern. The meeting, held with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, highlighted the importance of addressing water issues which have a broad impact on citizens.

The Prime Minister, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, shared on Facebook that numerous areas are battling issues such as flooding, inadequate water for agriculture and industry, and unclean water supplies. She emphasized that these challenges necessitate urgent government intervention.

In response, the government has allocated funding through an economic stimulus project aimed at mitigating these problems and enhancing the quality of life across various regions. The Prime Minister's visit to Kanchanaburi is part of an effort to explore solutions such as utilizing groundwater during the dry season and in areas lacking sufficient water sources.

During her visit, the Prime Minister intends to gather insights from the local populace, which will inform future planning and the potential expansion of water management projects to other areas. She reiterated the government's commitment to addressing water issues, viewing it as not just an infrastructure challenge but a critical aspect of daily life that requires diligent management.
