Beijing: The Prime Minister of Thailand, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, is scheduled to embark on an official visit to China from February 5-8 to engage in discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit aims to address bilateral issues, enhance diplomatic relations marking the 50th anniversary between Thailand and China, and culminate in the signing of multiple agreements. Following the official engagements, the Prime Minister will travel to Harbin to support Thai athletes participating in the Winter Asian Games, upon the invitation of the Chinese government.
According to Thai News Agency, Government Spokesperson Mr. Jirayu Huangsap announced that the Prime Minister and her delegation will depart Thailand on the afternoon of February 5. Upon arrival in Beijing, the delegation plans to hold comprehensive discussions with President Xi Jinping, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, and Premier Li Qiang. The discussions seek to bolster cooperation across various sectors, including trade, inve
stment, and economic development, with a particular focus on the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.
On February 6, the Prime Minister will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Martyrs in Tiananmen Square, followed by an inspection parade at the Great Hall of the People. Further meetings with Chinese Premier Li Qiang are set to follow, where the delegation will witness the signing of several agreements related to economics, trade, and investment between the two nations. The day will conclude with a reception hosted by the Chinese government in honor of the Thai delegation.
Mr. Jirayu further detailed that on February 7, the Prime Minister will travel to Harbin in Heilongjiang Province. There, President Xi Jinping will host a reception for international leaders, including Prime Minister Shinawatra, who will attend the official opening of the 9th Asian Winter Games. The Prime Minister is also expected to meet with Thai athletes participating in the games.
The
delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes high-ranking officials such as Deputy Prime Ministers Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Anutin Charnvirakul, and Pichai Chunhavajira, among others. The delegation will represent various sectors, ensuring a comprehensive approach to strengthening ties with China.
