Prime Minister Challenges Public to Identify Politician in Scam Allegation

Bangkok: The Prime Minister has issued a challenge to the public, urging them to disclose the identity of a politician dubbed "Big Joke" following revelations of a scam involving a government official.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, addressed concerns raised by Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, a former deputy national police chief, who alleged that a politician with the initials Ch., part of the coalition government, was involved in fraudulent activities. The Prime Minister stated that if there is certainty about the politician's wrongdoing and identity, it should be made public, prompting police and relevant authorities to take necessary action.

When questioned about consulting Rangsiman Rome, who reportedly holds pertinent information, Mr. Anutin indicated a willingness to coordinate if an opportunity arises. However, he noted that the government had already tasked the Royal Thai Police with handling the matter. Despite being pressed on his confidence in the coalition government, Mr. Anutin remained non-committal, merely smiling and leaving the interview.

Further inquiries from reporters about the potential dissolution of Parliament adhering to the original schedule were met with confirmation from the Prime Minister. Additionally, he addressed speculation regarding his involvement in delaying the no confidence motion, clarifying with a laugh and a shake of his head that he never attempted to hinder it. He reiterated that the motion remains with the opposition, and he is prepared to address it if necessary before departing the 6th Air Base.
