Prime Minister Anutin Engages in Robust Diplomatic Activities at ASEAN Summit


Kuala lumpur: On the second day of the ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul attended a series of five meetings and three discussions, underscoring Thailand’s active involvement in ASEAN and broader international affairs.



According to Thai News Agency, Government Spokesperson Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat outlined Prime Minister Anutin’s schedule, which began at 9:00 a.m. local time. The Prime Minister is participating in the 47th ASEAN Summit and related discussions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is expected to present a statement at the 26th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Summit, emphasizing the importance of advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in areas such as the digital economy, green innovation, and sustainable development.



Subsequently, the Prime Minister will engage in the 28th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, focusing on regional challenges and cooperation in disaster response and other emerging issues impacting ASEAN and East Asia. At 12:30 p.m., he is slated to attend a reception celebrating Timor-Leste’s official entry into ASEAN.



In the afternoon, Prime Minister Anutin will participate in the 5th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit to advocate for the free trade agreement’s benefits, aiming for measurable outcomes for businesses and citizens. Following this, he will meet with the World Bank’s Vice President before attending the 20th East Asia Summit, promoting peace, stability, and a balanced geopolitical system in the Asia-Pacific region. He is also scheduled for bilateral discussions with the Prime Minister of Singapore.



The evening agenda includes the 15th ASEAN-UN Summit, where discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation between ASEAN and the United Nations, particularly in sustainable development. Subsequently, Prime Minister Anutin will hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of New Zealand and attend a dinner hosted by the Malaysian Prime Minister and his wife, honoring the ASEAN leaders present at the summit.



Mr. Siripong emphasized that Prime Minister Anutin is committed to strengthening cooperation within ASEAN and the global community. The Prime Minister aims to leverage the ASEAN platform to assert Thailand’s role as a regional sustainability partner, promoting digital technology development, clean energy, and regional stability and peace for the benefit of ASEAN citizens and the international community.
