The Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station is urgently hunting down a gang of criminals who pretended to contact to exchange digital currency before stealing 3 million baht and kidnapping a Chinese businessman to extort money. The victim's side has provided clues that his ex-wife may be involved. At 09.30 today (October 21), Pol. Col. Phontep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Suthisan Police Station, revealed about the kidnapping of a Chinese businessman for extortion that the victim was in a brokerage business arranging accommodation for Chinese people who came to Thailand. The company was legally registered. On the day of the incident, he was contacted by a person who had previously contacted him to exchange digital currency. He asked to exchange digital currency for cryptocurrency and asked to prepare 3 million baht in Thai cash. Shortly after, a group of 5 criminals entered the office, fully armed, pretending to ask about a person named 'Michael' who was the victim's friend. They then searched the mone y and took the group of 2 victims, who were Chinese but could speak Thai, to Nakhon Nayok Province. They took them and separated them into 2 cars and extorted 270,000 US dollars on October 19. Then, they took both victims in a single car and sent them to the Bang Khen area. The Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station said that the investigation team of Sutthisan Police Station, together with the Crime Suppression Division 2 and the Immigration Bureau, checked the license plate of the perpetrator's car and found that it was a fake plate. They finished questioning the victim at 3:00 a.m. today. At this time, it cannot be confirmed whether the perpetrator was also a Burmese person, as the communication revealed that he was Chinese. As for the person named Michael, they are currently coordinating with the Immigration Bureau to check whether the person entered the Kingdom legally or not, but they confirmed that he is. Pol. Col. Phontep said that the middleman who contacted the victim to exchange money is real . This morning, officers are checking with the Immigration Bureau to track down all the incidents. It was confirmed that the victim entered Thailand legally and did business legally. From the initial investigation, the victim suspects that it is likely connected to his ex-wife, whom he had separated from, with whom he had a child. Currently, this suspect is still in Thailand, but at this point, it is only an assumption. As for tracking down the perpetrators, officers are currently investigating the crime route and believe that the suspects are still in Thailand. However, tracking them down is difficult because the suspects have separated into separate cars and fled. Police officers are still taking care of both victims, as they are still in fear of danger.
