Police Seek Arrest Warrants for 17 in Auditor General Building Collapse Case

Bangkok: The investigation team of the Metropolitan Police Bureau has submitted a request to the court for arrest warrants for 17 engineers, supervisors, and joint ventures involved in the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General building.

According to Thai News Agency, after a thorough investigation, the team collected a variety of evidence, including environmental, material, and documentary evidence, related to the incident. The evidence encompasses the initial terms of reference, contracting processes, design and supervision hires, construction hires, and material evidence of steel and concrete parts. The investigators worked with the Engineering Institute of Thailand and experts from Chulalongkorn University to compile a comprehensive case file. This included over 300 pieces of evidence related to the inspection of steel and cement and signature verification from the Forensic Science Division.

The latest report from the investigation indicates that the team has now gathered sufficient documents to request the issuance of arrest warrants for 17 individuals. These individuals are categorized into three groups: the joint venture company, the contractor group supervising the work, and the engineer group who signed off on the certifications. They face charges under Section 227 and an offense under Section 238 for designing, supervising, or constructing without adhering to the rules, which resulted in the death of another person.
