Bangkok: Police have mandated that Ratthaphum Tokongsub, also known as ‘Film Ratthaphum’, personally provide a statement regarding the attempted extortion charges he faces. Legal representatives are not permitted to speak on his behalf.
According to Thai News Agency, the latest development in this case follows rumors of a police summons for attempted fraud. Mr. Ratthaphum is scheduled to meet with investigators this Friday at 10:00 a.m. to acknowledge the charges. The investigation commenced after a victim lodged a complaint about attempted extortion, prompting investigators to gather evidence for court presentation. The court retains the discretion to amend the charges to attempted fraud if deemed necessary.
This morning, officers issued a formal summons for Mr. Ratthaphum to meet with investigators. Authorities are prepared to facilitate the interrogation process. Should he fail to appear as summoned, a second summons will be issued, with legal proceedings to follow if non-compliance persists.
The inves
tigator highlighted that following the conclusion of the investigation, the charges could be altered before being forwarded to the public prosecutor. Should the case transition to attempted fraud, it may be directed to the Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court for further proceedings appropriate to the offense.
Investigators emphasized that Mr. Ratthaphum must answer questions himself during the meeting, without legal representation speaking on his behalf. Additionally, if Mr. Ratthaphum seeks to address the defamation case involving Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai and Mr. Kanchai Kamnerdploy on the same day, he is permitted to do so.
The issuance of the summons was significantly influenced by a key piece of evidence: a clear audio clip that supports the prosecution’s case.
