Police Receive Over 600 Requests to Unlock Bank Accounts Nationwide

Bangkok: Police received over 600 requests to unlock bank accounts nationwide within two days. They emphasized that victims can file a report at any police station or by calling the 1599 hotline, provided they provide five pieces of identity verification.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Archayon Kraithong, spokesman for the Royal Thai Police, revealed that National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panpetch held a meeting to establish guidelines for handling reports of temporary suspensions of financial transactions, ensuring uniform nationwide practices. Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabutr, Inspector-General of the Royal Thai Police and Director of the Technology Crime Suppression Center (PCT), has been assigned to oversee the process. He has also instructed all police stations nationwide to accept all reports from victims. The victims must correctly verify five pieces of information: full name, national ID card number, telephone number, bank account number, and bank name. This prevents fraudsters from impersonating innocent individuals. If an innocent person is identified, the administrators of each police station must compile the information and submit it to the Technology Crime Suppression Center (PCT). The PCT will then forward the information to the AOC for verification and prompt unlocking. However, if an account is found to be involved in a crime, strict legal action will be taken.
