Bangkok: Wang Thonglang Police Station officers raided a drug party involving Myanmar nationals. Urine tests revealed 41 people tested positive for drugs. They responded to the 'NO Drugs NO Dealers' campaign and raided an unlicensed entertainment venue.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Siam Bunsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, along with other senior police officials, ordered an integrated effort to inspect areas under their jurisdiction. This operation was in line with the government policy of NO Drugs NO Dealers, focusing on identifying drug users and arresting dealers.
The police inspected a karaoke-like establishment inside a single-story shophouse in the Phlapphla Subdistrict, Wang Thonglang District, Bangkok. After receiving a tip-off about a group party, officers found approximately 60 customers, and random drug tests confirmed that 41 individuals, including 19 men and 12 women of Burmese nationality, tested positive for drugs.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the group was attending a private birthday party. Police discovered four e-cigarette liquid cartridges, suspected to be Category 2 psychotropic substances, near the restroom. Alcohol was also being sold without a license. The shop manager, Mr. Paphangkorn, a Thai national, was charged with operating without a license and selling liquor illegally.
Miss HNIN EI CHO, a 32-year-old Myanmar national, along with the 41 individuals, faced charges of illegal use of Category 1 narcotics. Their urine samples were sent for further examination at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital. Subsequently, all suspects were taken to Wang Thonglang Police Station for legal proceedings.
The Superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station emphasized that addressing the drug problem is a priority, as directed by the government and Royal Thai Police. The public is encouraged to report any drug-related activities to the police hotline, available 24/7.
