Police Major General Charoonkiat Pankaew Reacts to Exclusion from Appointment List

Bangkok: Police Major General Charoonkiat Pankaew, Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, has expressed no discontent after being omitted from the recent list of police appointments and transfers. Emphasizing that his work is for the public good rather than personal gain, he remains committed to his duties and vows to continue working diligently.

According to Thai News Agency, a meeting of the Police Commission (P.C.C.) was held yesterday, taking eight hours to compile a list of 250 police officers for transfers. Notably absent from the list was Police Major General Charoonkiat, who had previously sought justice from Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, the Acting Prime Minister. Despite the exclusion, Charoonkiat publicly stated his satisfaction with the appointments, singling out Police Major General Noppasin Poolsawat for his new role as Commander of the Office of the National Police Commissioner, citing his capabilities as an investigator.

Charoonkiat emphasized his belief in working for the public good and advocated for appointment guidelines based on knowledge and abilities. He urged the Police Ethics Protection Commission (P.E.P.C.) to ensure fairness in future appointments at the commander and deputy commander levels. He is set to consult with the legal department to establish principles that promote fairness and morale within the Royal Thai Police.

While acknowledging potential dissatisfaction from his actions, Charoonkiat welcomes fair consideration for those appointed. He supports the National Police Commission's efforts, led by Police General Kittirat Phanphet, to restore justice. Despite not being promoted, Charoonkiat remains undeterred, continuing his work against corruption and misconduct. He views himself as a catalyst for change and stresses his commitment to the common good over personal interests.

With four more years of service ahead, Charoonkiat remains optimistic, aiming to influence the establishment of criteria for future appointments by the National Police Commission.
