Police General Hospital Investigates Alleged Misconduct by Female Doctor Over Sleeping Pills Scheme

Bangkok: Police General Hospital is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a claim that a female doctor falsely represented a clinic in prescribing sleeping pills, emphasizing the enforcement of strict professional ethics.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Sirikul Srisongka, spokesperson for the Police General Hospital, stated that a female doctor with the rank of 'Pol. Col.' associated with the hospital was arrested after allegedly misrepresenting a clinic to order sleeping pills. This scheme reportedly involved a turnover exceeding 80 million baht, and a significant amount of evidence was confiscated from police flats. Pol. Lt. Gen. Taweesin Wetchavitarn, Chief Medical Officer (Sgt. 8), has been apprised of the situation and has directed an investigation into the details, coordinating efforts with the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other relevant agencies. The investigation is still underway.

The Police Hospital has indicated that upon receiving an official report, if an offense is confirmed, a serious disciplinary committee will be appointed, and a temporary suspension from service may be considered.

The Police Hospital spokesperson reiterated that in cases involving the prescription of psychotropic substances and narcotics, the hospital maintains stringent control over drug dispensing. The institution affirms its commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct, ensuring a transparent, fair, and accountable investigation process.
