PM Paetongtarn Confirms Thaksin’s Readiness for Court Appearance on June 13

Bangkok: Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, assured that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has not fled the country and is set to attend court on June 13. She confirmed his presence at Chansongla House amidst ongoing speculations.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn addressed the media before attending the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. She discussed the Supreme Court's upcoming hearing on Thaksin's hospitalization at the Police Hospital. Although unsure about Thaksin's travel arrangements, she expressed confidence that nothing would hinder his court appearance.

In response to rumors of Thaksin's escape, Ms. Paetongtarn humorously remarked that he remains at home. She recounted a recent conversation with Thaksin, confirming his location and readiness to attend court.

Ms. Paetongtarn dismissed speculation regarding her trip to England being an opportunity-seeking mission for Thaksin. She clarified that her visit was primarily for her child's schooling.

Despite facing criticism and drama, Ms. Paetongtarn remains unfazed. She emphasized her focus on work, attributing any fatigue to jet lag from her travels. She expressed her willingness to address public concerns transparently.

During her England visit, Ms. Paetongtarn engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Commerce about potential market opportunities and Free Trade Agreements. Her itinerary also included a visit to Monaco, where she met with Prince Albert II to discuss Formula 1 racing prospects in Thailand.

Ms. Paetongtarn revealed progress in bringing Formula 1 racing to Thailand, describing it as a realistic and hopeful venture. She advised patience, anticipating clarity on the matter in the next 2-3 months.
