Bangkok: The House of Representatives experienced an unexpected halt in proceedings when Mr. Pichet Chueamuangphan, the first deputy speaker, abruptly closed a meeting dedicated to debating the amnesty bill draft. The session, which had been in progress for over four hours, was suddenly adjourned without any explanation offered by Mr. Pichet.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was initially set to allow Members of Parliament to express their views on the amnesty bill draft, which had been presented in a similar fashion as previous drafts. Despite the anticipation of a comprehensive debate, Mr. Pichet, acting as the chairman, ended the session, leaving three out of five drafts pending discussion. He indicated that these remaining drafts will be addressed in the following week's meeting. The announcement to close the meeting came at approximately 5:10 p.m., leaving many questions unanswered regarding the future of the amnesty debate.
