Phumtham Awaits Council’s Opinion on Entertainment Bill Withdrawal

Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, has stated that the decision to withdraw the Entertainment Bill will depend on the opinion of the council. Acting in his capacity as Prime Minister, Mr. Phumtham indicated that the matter has not yet been considered or discussed in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham addressed questions concerning whether the government whip proposed the withdrawal due to the government's lack of readiness. He mentioned that it was within the government whip's purview to propose such a withdrawal and that he had not been made aware of any proposal thus far.

The Deputy Prime Minister also commented on the broader political context, stating that he was unsure whether the current situation warranted a postponement. He emphasized that it was a decision for the council to present to the Cabinet. Mr. Phumtham noted that if the matter was brought forward, it would be duly considered.

In response to inquiries about his personal stance on postponement, Mr. Phumtham reiterated that he had not yet formed an opinion, citing the presence of many other urgent matters demanding attention.
