Phetchabun: The Governor of Phetchabun Province has issued a detailed report to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior regarding the recent enforcement actions taken against the "No Bathing Trip" event. The event, which involved a large gathering of motorcycle users in Lom Kao District, Phetchabun Province, was found to have violated traffic regulations and involved illegal drug activities. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saranu Meethongkham, the Governor of Phetchabun, wrote an urgent letter highlighting the investigation conducted by the Phetchabun Provincial Police. The investigation revealed that the event, organized under the name 'Trip Nam Mai Ab', was coordinated through online platforms such as Facebook. Scheduled for November 23-24, 2024, the event was expected to attract many motorcycle enthusiasts and included music performances and the sale of alcoholic beverages. Previous events had shown participants riding motorcycles under the influence, engaging in loud and unsafe driving, th ereby tarnishing the tourism image of the province and causing public disturbances. The report outlined several measures taken by the authorities. All districts were instructed to coordinate with local police, transport offices, and excise offices to enforce legal measures. This included ensuring traffic discipline, safe driving practices, helmet use, compliance with vehicle tax regulations, and restricting alcohol sales to minors. On November 23, 2024, checkpoints were established across all districts to monitor and enforce these regulations. Key officials, including Deputy Governor Mr. Sompong Homsanit and Provincial Defense Officer Mr. Sittichai Charoensilp, were tasked with overseeing the operations at various checkpoints. Governor Saranu Meethongkham personally inspected the enforcement activities at the Huai Laeng Police Station and the event area at Phu Thap Boek, a popular tourist attraction. District Chief Mr. Seksan Klinpun ensured that officials maintained order and communicated guidelines to res ort operators to minimize disruption to other tourists. The enforcement efforts led to numerous arrests and fines under various acts, including the 1979 Motor Vehicle Act and the 1979 Land Traffic Act. Violations included 92 cases of not wearing a helmet, 120 cases of driving without a license, and 173 cases of incomplete vehicle accessories. Overall, 453 cases were processed, with 180 individuals receiving warnings, eight motorcycles seized, and extensive searches conducted on vehicles and motorcycles. Additionally, arrests were made for the sale of kratom water without permission and possession of ketamine.
