Peaceful Atmosphere Prevails at Thai-Cambodian Border Following Peace Accord

Sa kaeo: The Thai border, specifically the areas of Ban Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaeo, remains peaceful and orderly. The Burapha Task Force has employed drones to survey these areas, following the recent signing of the Thai-Cambodian peace treaty. No unusual activity has been detected from the Cambodian side.

According to Thai News Agency, the peace accord signed by the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia has led both countries to commit to reducing tensions, withdrawing heavy weapons, clearing mines, and restoring trust. Reporters at the border in Sa Kaeo Province have noted that the atmosphere around Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo in the Non Mak Mun Subdistrict, a special surveillance area, remains calm. The Burapha Task Force has deployed personnel on aerial patrols, using drones to monitor the border area and assess developments closely.

There have been no unusual movements of military personnel or vehicles along the Cambodian border. The general atmosphere on the Cambodian side remains calm, with villagers continuing their daily activities, such as farming and trading goods. Cambodian military personnel remain stationed at their checkpoints, observing and reporting the situation as part of standard border security operations.

Officials from the Burapha Task Force indicated that the aerial survey mission is part of preventive surveillance measures to build confidence among local residents. The latest inspection revealed no unusual findings. Military personnel continue to maintain checkpoints and observation points along the border to ensure security and prevent incidents that could affect safety, in close coordination with local administrative and security officials.

In a related development, the 1202nd Ranger Company arrested seven Cambodians-six men and one woman-attempting to illegally enter Thailand at the border area of Section 05-06, a minefield in Sa Kaeo Province. One of the arrested individuals revealed they had previously worked at Rong Kluea Market in Thailand and decided to return due to better earning opportunities. Their former employer had contacted them to return to work, leading them to attempt the illegal crossing. Upon encountering Thai soldiers, their guide fled back to Cambodia. Authorities found no illegal items in their possession and have detained the suspects for questioning before transferring them to Khlong Luek Police Station for legal proceedings.
