“Patcharawat” orders urgent search for missing tourists at Phu Soi Dao National Park

Uttaradit, The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment ordered a search for missing tourists at Phu Soi Dao National Park, Chanthaburi Province, and stressed the need for helicopters to help with the search. Mr. Atthaphon Charoenchansa, Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, said that he had already reported to Pol. Gen. Patcharawat Wongsuwan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, about the missing tourists at Phu Soi Dao National Park in Chanthaburi Province. Pol. Gen. Patcharawat expressed his concern and ordered the Department of National Parks to urgently search for the missing tourists. He also ordered the Natural Resources and Environment Conservation Aviation Division to provide helicopter support for the search. Mr. Komes Phutthason, Director of the Conservation Area Management Office 11 (Phitsanulok), reported that a tourist went missing while hiking up to Lan Son Phu Soi Dao in Phu Soi Dao National Park, Utta radit Province. Mr. Farut Chaithatsankul, Head of Phu Soi Dao National Park, reported that the missing person was named Mr. Thanwarit Mathima, 27 years old, with a registered address in Nong Bon Subdistrict, Kosum Phisai District, Maha Sarakham Province. This tourist came to register to go up to the Phu Soi Dao pine forest at the national park office since July 4, 2024. According to the regulations, after tourists go up to the Phu Soi Dao pine forest, they must register again. However, Mr. Thanawarit did not register. The Phu Soi Dao National Park officials therefore went out to search for him by organizing 5 teams, consisting of officials from Phu Soi Dao National Park, the Wildlife Sanctuary, the Forest Fire Station in the nearby area, the National Park Rescue Center 2, Phitsanulok, the Prasat Boon Sathan Foundation, the 315th Border Patrol Police Company, the 3203rd Ranger Company, the Nam Pat District Volunteer Defense Corps, the Nam Pat Rescue Corps, the Royal Forest Department officials, and the Nam Pa t Police Station, totaling 99 people. For the search operation plan, the 1st - 4th team of officers has been dispatched to cover the area around the point where the luggage was found within a 1 square kilometer radius, with each point 50 meters apart. The 5th team has been patrolling both sides of the river in the area where the luggage was found, down to service point 2 (Phu Soi Dao Waterfall). Each team has been instructed to report the results of their operations periodically, with Mr. Thotsaporn Phaphakun, Director of the National Park Division, giving orders in the area to search for Mr. Thanawarit as soon as possible.
