Parade Car Host Attacked by Local Teenagers in Udon Thani Province

Bangkok: A parade car host was attacked by local teenagers during a festival in his village, an incident that has raised concerns about community safety and justice.

According to Thai News Agency, the victim, Mr. Kanokphon, a 30-year-old resident of Pho Si Samran Subdistrict in Non Sa-at District, Udon Thani Province, was hosting a merit-making event in Sri Sathit Village, Nong Ko Subdistrict, Kranuan District, Khon Kaen Province. The event, meant to be a joyful gathering, turned violent when a group of 4-5 local teenagers, also participating in the festival, confronted his relatives. The altercation reportedly began over a minor incident where someone stepped on another's foot while dancing near the parade float without offering an apology.

As the host, Mr. Kanokphon attempted to mediate the situation. However, the confrontation escalated quickly when the teenagers refused to relent and assaulted him by punching him in the face. The situation further deteriorated when the group attempted to gang up on him, necessitating intervention from his mother to prevent further harm.

The situation took a dangerous turn when one of the teenagers wielded a knife, reportedly attempting to stab Kanokphon's nephews. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as they managed to flee in time. Despite the severity of the incident, efforts to resolve the conflict at the home of one of the teenagers, identified as a soldier, were unsuccessful. Due to the involvement of a soldier, Mr. Kanokphon has refrained from reporting the incident to the police, fearing potential retribution and prioritizing his safety.
