Palang Pracharath Party Spokesman Attends Kathin Ceremony with Thaksin.

Bangkok: The spokesman of the Palang Pracharath Party, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya Tawichai, attended the merit-making Kathin ceremony at Wat Khlong Kru, where former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra presided over the event. During the ceremony, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya expressed his fondness for Thaksin, stating that he always remembers him fondly and has never spoken ill of him, emphasizing the enduring bond between them despite belonging to different political parties. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya brought a gift basket to present to Pol. Lt. Gen. Phonphum Wiphatiphumiphum, assistant to the Minister of Culture, and Ms. Chayada Wiphatiphum. When questioned about any messages from Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, to Thaksin, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya disclosed that while Gen Prawit had not sent any specific message, he held Thaksin in high regard due to their longstanding relationship. He emphasized that, despite their political differences, they are united in their efforts to dev elop the country and address economic challenges. Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya reassured that there were no issues between them. Addressing the potential surprise of the media due to their differing political alignments, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya urged the media not to be alarmed, as interactions between them are a common occurrence. Regarding concerns about the impact on the stances of the two parties, Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya highlighted the importance of prioritizing national interests above all else. He mentioned various issues, such as the Tak Bai case and MOU 44, where the Palang Pracharath Party has urged the government to act correctly to prevent potential disadvantages or territorial losses. Pol. Lt. Gen. Piya reiterated that the party serves as a reflective entity for the government, and praised Mr. Thaksin's past contributions as prime minister, while also acknowledging Gen. Prawit's positive remarks about Thaksin.
