Paethongtarn Accepts Constitutional Court Ruling, Affirms Commitment to Thailand

Bangkok: Paethongtarn Shinawatra announced her acceptance of the Constitutional Court's decision, affirming her innocence and dedication to Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, Paethongtarn expressed her sincere intentions and commitment to preserving the lives of soldiers and civilians. She thanked everyone for the opportunity to work with her, urging them to collaborate in restoring political stability and preventing sudden changes in the future.

Paethongtarn, former Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, issued a statement following the Constitutional Court's ruling that dismissed her from office over a video clip of her conversation with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen. This ruling resulted in the dismissal of her entire Cabinet. She stated that she accepted the court's decision, emphasizing her sincere intentions and determination to serve the country. The audio clip did not request anything for personal gain, and she reiterated the importance of protecting the lives of soldiers and civilians. She clarified that the video clip was recorded before the violent clashes on July 24th and was meant to convey her message.

In her statement, Paethongtarn highlighted the court ruling as an example of sudden political change. She called for collective efforts to restore stability and prevent such occurrences in the future. She expressed gratitude to the people for nearly a year of service, emphasizing her pride in contributing to the country's development and her belief in a government that will create opportunities for the people. Reporters noted that after the press conference, Paethongtarn turned to bow and thank the cabinet members present, who applauded in support. The press conference was attended by cabinet members from the coalition government, except for Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Minister of Commerce. Mr. Chalermchai Sri-on, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, traveled to the Thai Khu Fah Building after the event. Paethongtarn then left Government House, waving to the media from her car.
