OR and RCL Launch B24 VLSFO Fuel for Cargo Ships at Laem Chabang Port

Laem chabang: OR, in collaboration with RCL, has piloted the distribution of B24 VLSFO (Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil) for cargo ships, marking a significant step towards sustainable maritime transport.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyaphruethi Watcharikup, Manager of Aircraft and Shipping Marketing at PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), and Captain Somchai Iampimonrat, Director of Fleet Management at RCL Public Company Limited (RCL), led the ceremony to supply B24 VLSFO to the PIYA BHUM, part of RCL’s fleet, at Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi Province. The operation involved transportation support from Interbunker Supply and Transport Co., Ltd., utilizing the Dragon Ten oil tanker to deliver the fuel from OR to the PIYA BHUM vessel.

This collaboration between the energy and maritime transport sectors represents a significant effort to enhance the use of clean energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the industry. The initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in July between OR and RCL, which aimed to promote sustainable growth in Thailand’s maritime transport industry.

The launch of B24 VLSFO fuel signifies the beginning of the adoption of clean energy in Thailand’s maritime sector, aligning with the OR 2030 Goals to foster a healthy environment and combat climate change. It also demonstrates RCL’s dedication to providing environmentally friendly services, contributing to a sustainable energy future for Thailand.
