ONCB Intensifies Crackdown on Drug Trade in Nakhon Phanom Province

Nakhon Phanom: The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has launched an operation termed "Seal Stop Safe" targeting small-time drug traders in Nakhon Phanom province to curb drug smuggling activities and alleviate public suffering. The Secretary-General of the ONCB, Pol. Lt. Gen. Phanurat Lakboon, declared the operation's initiation, which aligns with the government's policy to combat drug distribution. The operation was conducted from February 8 to 13, 2025, focusing on the border areas across seven provinces including Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani.

According to Thai News Agency, the operation in Nakhon Phanom involved blockades in eight areas where various results were observed. While four areas did not report any illegal items, one area found drugs awaiting confirmation, and another led to the arrest of a suspect identified as Mr. Athit. Although no evidence was found at the suspect's residence, several individuals associated with drug sales were identified. The Tha Uthen Police Station, along with ONCB Region 4, is committed to expanding the investigation and arresting those involved.

During the Seal operation from January 31 to February 13, 2025, across five provinces and 25 districts, authorities arrested 73 suspects in 44 cases, seizing over 14 million methamphetamine pills and 658 kilograms of ice.
