National Police Chief Prepared to Deploy Security for Threatened Officer

Bangkok: The National Police Chief is ready to send forces to care for Pol. Lt. Col. Angkana after she received death threats. He confirmed that she has not yet requested or contacted him. He urged Thai people to have different opinions but not use violence.

According to Thai News Agency, on October 16th, at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters, Police General Kittirat Panphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, addressed the case of Mary Lawlor, who expressed concern for the safety of Senator Angkana Neelapaijit, stating that she had been informed of the news but had not received any official reports. Regarding the rumors, the matter is a matter for the Special Branch Police and the Technology Crime Suppression Division to investigate. If such a case is indeed true, he urges Senator Angkana to file a complaint or report the incident to initiate legal proceedings. He also urged those requesting security personnel to submit a letter to the Royal Thai Police Headquarters.

The National Police Chief stated that if the posting is threatening to a foreigner, it will be investigated to determine whether it constitutes a violation of the law. Regarding the case of differences of opinion between Senator Angkana and her opponents, it is a constitutional right that can be exercised, but the police do not support the use of emotion or violence.

"Please think carefully and speak with one another. Please express your opinions. Government officials have a duty to adhere to due process. Therefore, some matters are sensitive and require careful consideration. However, if there is any conflict or violence, please consider that we are all Thais. I request your cooperation and ask that we think and act together for the benefit of the nation," said Pol. Gen. Kittirat.
