Myanmar Authorities Allow Thai Military Committee to Meet Detained Crew Members

Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in Yangon have successfully coordinated with Myanmar authorities to facilitate a meeting between the House Military Committee and four detained Thai crew members.

According to Thai News Agency, the Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Ministry and the Embassy had previously visited and provided initial assistance to the crew members multiple times. The Assistant Minister expressed hope that these efforts would not be used for political attacks against the Ministry.

Mr. Rasm Chaleechan, Assistant Minister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosed that after receiving a request from the House of Representatives Military Committee, led by Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, for a visit to Kawthaung Prison, the Ministry promptly coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon. The Assistant Minister emphasized the Ministry's commitment to addressing the needs of Thai citizens abroad, highlighting that the Ministry had arranged visits for the relatives of the detained fishermen since December 19, 2024.
