MP Chaiampawan Manpienchit Clarifies Vote of Confidence for PM Amid Scandal Speculations

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiampawan Manpienchit, MP for Bangkok, Thai Kaona Party, stated that his confidence vote for Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, was a personal decision. He emphasized that the government's efforts in dismantling call center gangs, which have significantly impacted his constituency by helping deceived children return home, were commendable and formed the basis of his trust in the Prime Minister.

When questioned about whether his vote was a negotiation tool concerning a previous scandalous case in Chiang Mai province, Mr. Chai-am-Pawan firmly denied such claims. He assured that the case is beyond any external influence and that the justice process remains untouched by political interference. Despite being part of the opposition, he acknowledged that praiseworthy actions by the government should be recognized.

Regarding potential party affiliation changes, Mr. Chai-am-Pawan mentioned that political discussions on this matter have not occurred. He stressed the importance of respecting party allegiance and did not dismiss the possibility of collaboration with parties sharing similar ideologies, such as the Kla Tham Party. He reiterated his commitment to his duties as an MP, particularly in addressing the call center gang issue, until the conclusion of his parliamentary term.

Addressing speculation about aligning with the Thai Progressive Party, Mr. Chai-am-Pawan clarified that his decisions are guided by his work rather than party politics. He noted that internal discussions within his party have yet to take place, and a party meeting is anticipated soon. Meanwhile, he intends to explain his decision to support the prime minister to the party leader.
